Terms of use
Last updated 25 October 2026. Please read these terms before using Match Ready: Rugby. They form a contract between you and us.
Match Ready gives general strength and conditioning guidance. It is not medical advice and doesn’t diagnose or treat anything. It never decides whether you’re fit to play. After a head injury, a doctor decides when you can return to play. In an emergency call 999; for urgent medical advice call NHS 111.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to the Match Ready: Rugby mobile app (on the stores as “Match Ready: Rugby Training”) and the website matchreadyrugby.com (together, “the service”). The service is provided by ARX Algorithms Ltd, registered in England and Wales with company number 17511371, registered office Office 21751, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, E6 2JA (“we”, “us”, “our”). Contact: [email protected].
By creating a plan or using the app you agree to these terms and confirm you’ve read our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
2. Who can use the app
You must be 18 or over and live in a country where the app is offered. The current version is designed for adult amateur rugby union players. You must give accurate information, particularly your date of birth and health screening answers, because the app relies on them.
3. Your health and safety
- Check you’re fit to train. Exercise, including strength training, sprinting, jumping and contact preparation, carries a risk of injury. The app asks health screening questions (PAR-Q+). If it suggests you see a GP before starting, or you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, a recent operation, injury, pregnancy or any other medical condition, get medical advice first.
- Listen to your body. Stop exercising and seek medical help if you feel chest pain, severe breathlessness, dizziness, or pain that is sharp or getting worse. Use the app’s pain and red-flag tools, which will point you to a physio or doctor.
- Train safely. Use proper technique, suitable equipment and a safe space. Use a spotter or rack safety arms for heavy barbell work, and only attempt a true one-rep max if you’re experienced and properly set up. Live contact and live scrummaging should only happen at club training under a qualified coach.
- Supplements. The adults-only supplement card is general information. If you can be drug-tested, you are responsible for what you take; check with UK Anti-Doping and use batch-tested products only.
4. Not medical advice
The service provides general fitness information and automated training suggestions based on the data you enter and published guidance. It isn’t a medical device, and it doesn’t provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Nothing in the service replaces advice from a doctor, physiotherapist or other qualified professional. Readiness colours, load descriptions and test results are training aids, not health assessments. The app doesn’t predict injuries.
5. Head injury tools
The head injury features follow England Rugby’s published HEADCASE guidance and graduated return timeline and the UK Concussion Guidelines for grassroots sport. They help you follow those timelines; they don’t diagnose concussion, and they never confirm that you’re fit to play. If you suspect a head injury, stop playing and follow the guidance shown, including contacting NHS 111 within 24 hours, or 999 for warning signs. A doctor decides when you can return to play. Match Ready isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by England Rugby (the RFU) or World Rugby.
6. Your account
You can use the app without an account; your data then stays on your phone. If you create an account, keep your sign-in details secure and tell us if you think someone else has accessed it. You’re responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account in the app at any time.
7. Subscriptions, prices and free trial
- What’s free. Head injury reporting and return steps, pain reporting and red-flag advice, illness advice, support links, account deletion, data export and restoring purchases are free for everyone.
- What needs a subscription. After setup, your training plan and sessions need an active subscription (“Match Ready Pro”).
- Plans. Monthly (£12.99) or yearly (£79.99) in the UK, including VAT. Prices in other countries are set by the store in local currency. The price you pay is the one the store shows when you confirm the purchase.
- Free trial. The yearly plan includes a 14-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you’ll be charged the yearly price when it ends. The monthly plan has no trial.
- Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Payment is taken by Apple or Google from the account you used to buy.
- Price changes. If we change the price of an existing subscription, Apple or Google will notify you in advance as their rules require, and where required ask for your consent. You can cancel before the new price applies.
8. Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your account doesn’t cancel a subscription by itself.
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, so refund requests are handled by them under their refund policies; contact them directly. When you start a subscription you ask for the service to begin straight away, so the usual 14-day right to cancel digital content ends once access starts, but this doesn’t affect your other legal rights. If something isn’t working, email us and we’ll try to fix it.
9. Your legal rights
If you’re a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. In summary, digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If it isn’t, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement, or to some or all of your money back. Citizens Advice can tell you more.
10. Licence and acceptable use
We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial training, subject to these terms and the store’s usage rules. You must not copy, resell, reverse engineer or extract the app’s content or coaching rules; use the service unlawfully; interfere with its security; or use automated means to access it. You may not use the app to coach or programme other people commercially without a separate agreement with us.
All rights in the app, its content, design, coaching rules and branding belong to us or our licensors. World Rugby, England Rugby and other organisations’ names are used only to refer to their public guidance.
11. Changes and availability
We keep improving the coaching rules and the app, so features may change. We’ll try to keep the service available but can’t guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. If we make a change that significantly reduces what a paid subscription gives you, we’ll tell you in advance and you can cancel. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms; if we end the service entirely we’ll give reasonable notice where we can.
12. Our responsibility to you
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit or exclude.
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren’t responsible for loss or damage that isn’t foreseeable.
- The service is for domestic and private use. We aren’t liable for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
- Because the app provides general guidance that you choose how to apply, and exercise carries inherent risk, we aren’t responsible for injury or loss caused by your failure to follow the safety guidance in section 3 or by your decisions to train against the app’s advice or that of a medical professional, except where it was caused by our negligence.
- Subject to the first point above, our total liability to you for all claims connected with the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for your subscription in the 12 months before the claim and £100.
13. App store terms
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support; Apple isn’t responsible for any product warranties (if the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price, and that is Apple’s only warranty obligation), or for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims and intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you aren’t located in a country subject to a US Government embargo and aren’t on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies where it conflicts with these terms in Apple’s favour. If you downloaded the app from Google Play, Google Play’s terms of service also apply.
14. General
- Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you don’t agree, you can stop using the service and cancel your subscription.
- Transfer. We may transfer our rights under these terms to another organisation; your rights won’t be affected. You may only transfer yours with our written agreement.
- Severability. If a court finds part of these terms unlawful, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. If we delay enforcing these terms, we can still enforce them later.
- Third parties. Apart from Apple as described in section 13, no one else has rights under these terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at [email protected] and we’ll try to resolve it.
